Ursa Minor Bakehouse

About

Real Bread Bakery creating unique and seasonal bakes made with locally sourced ingredients.

Our goal for the café is to provide a space for all.
The philosophy at Ursa Minor is very simple, we source fresh, seasonal produce from local suppliers to create a unique menu bursting with flavour, texture and colour.
All menus change on a weekly basis dependent on what is fresh and in stock from local suppliers.

We follow the ethos and methods of past bakers, opting to use 3 main ingredients to make our bread - flour, water & salt. We have found that allowing the organic grains to ferment with water over a long period of time produces incredible results. All our breads are free from chemical additives & improvers. We are always working towards the perfect loaf.

We use like-minded suppliers who have a passion for their product, aiming to use high quality, organic, local produce. We respect the seasons and what the wild offers us.

We believe in doing a few things, but doing them exceptionally well. We don’t offer dozens of different types of breads or cake varieties, just a few that we think are delicious and we hope that you will think so too.

We are part of the Économusée project which is designed to showcase traditional crafts and help artisans tell their story.

You can visit our bakehouse and learn a little about what we do, how we do it and why by following our storyboards downstairs, below the café.

Or you can book in for a tour/workshop and our team will show you around our bakehouse and explain in more detail how we make our bread, show you different techniques and you might even get a chance to get your hands in some dough!

Email or social media is the best way to contact us.
