General information

A View of the Cross – Concert for Palm Sunday
St Patrick's Roman Catholic Cathedral

Cappella Caeciliana, one of Northern Ireland’s leading choirs, is delighted to be joined by guest conductor Eamonn Dougan (Associate Conductor of The Sixteen). The choir will present a special concert of music for Palm Sunday and Holy Week, in the magnificent setting of St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Cathedral.

The programme includes the Irish premiere of Stabat Mater by Alissa Firsova (in the presence of the composer) and Miserere by James MacMillan. Works by Palestrina, Byrd, Lotti and Victoria are also featured. In addition, the choir will perform The Deer’s Cry (a setting of St. Patrick’s Breastplate) by Arvo Pärt, in honour of the patron of the Cathedral.

The programme also features the ever-popular Requiem by Gabriel Fauré, which will be performed with a guest orchestra of young local musicians.

This concert is supported by The National Lottery through the Arts Council of Northern Ireland. As part of this support, and to encourage young people to experience these world class musical works, students and under 25s will be admitted to the concert free of charge.
