Ballycastle & District Horse Ploughing Championship

17 March
Ballycastle and District Horse Ploughing Society hold their annual Horse Ploughing Match and Heavy Horse Show on St Patrick's Day. This is one of the oldest surviving annual competitions in the whole of Ireland and was formed over 130 years ago producing some world class ploughmen. We have a huge support from our local ploughmen, society members and donations from local businesses to ensure this local event continues to take place.
Ballycastle and District Horse Ploughing Society want to ensure that this great tradition survives for future generations.
Visitors who have never experience horse ploughing, or those who may wish to recall their youthful days can also step into the handles to plough a furrow under the watchful of eye of the Chairman.
