Ballycopeland Windmill

Walking Route
Ballycopeland Windmill is the only remaining working windmill in east Down. It was built in the late 18th or early 19th century and was worked until the First World War when it fell into disrepair. It was gradually restored between 1950 and 1978 to full working order.

Inside the mill is an AV presentation explaining how the mill operates and, depending on weather conditions, there may be a chance to mill some barley. The outbuildings now serve as a visitor centre with displays, models and an audiovisual theatre.

Wheelchair access is limited. No unaccompanied children under the age of 16.
