About

Belfast Castle sits at the foot of Cave Hill and is one of the most iconic locations to view the stunning skyline of Belfast City. It plays host to the perfect wedding day, conferences, meetings, social events and family gatherings.

Built in the 1860s, the estate remains a perfect location for locals and tourists to explore the surrounding natural woodland, parkland and gardens. It’s also home to the Cave Hill Adventurous Playground, archaeological sites, a visitor information centre, eco trails and orienteering routes.

It also contains both parkland and mature mixed woodland and is home to many different species of wildlife, including long-eared owls, sparrowhawks and Belfast’s rarest plant, the town hall clock.

More information about the estate and its history is available from the Cave Hill Visitor Centre, located inside Belfast Castle which is free to visit and you do not need to pre-book. You can call the castle directly on 028 9077 6925.

Inside the castle, you can grab a coffee or enjoy a bite to eat in the Tavern Café, located in the Castle Cellar. The café is open daily Monday to Sunday, 9am-4pm with hot food served until 3pm. You can eat in or takeaway and there is indoor and outdoor seating available.

Free car parking facilities are available on site. These are on a first come first served basis.

Belfast Castle Estate is accessible – for full details of their accessibility features, see Belfast Castle | AccessAble

Recently Belfast Castle installed a new and secure covered cycle stand with a green roof which helps improve the air quality and to encourage biodiversity in the area. We welcome all cyclists to the castle to avail of this.

The castle also has its own outdoor dog friendly seating area to allow you and your furry best friend  to enjoy some well-deserved treats after your walk.  Water bowls can be made available.

For more information, or to discuss bookings or wedding packages, email bcr@belfastcastle.co.uk or call 028 9077 6925.

You can follow Belfast Castle on Facebook @belfastcastle or Instagram @belfast_castle to hear all the latest information about the venue and any up-coming public events.
