22 January
Join the team at Belfast's Window on Wildlife (WOW) for this free drop-in event to learn basic bird watching skills. You'll also have the chance to make delicious treats to attract the feathered friends to your patch in time for Big Garden Bird watch 2017!

Grab the chance to get the whole family closer to nature this new year at Belfast's Window on Wildlife! In the run-up to the world's biggest wildlife survey, Big Garden Birdwatch, for one day only the nature reserve will be completely free to visit.

There'll be lots of great activities on offer - just swoop in anytime between 10am and 3pm to get involved in bird cake building, nature arts and crafts and more. RSPB NI's friendly staff and volunteers will be on hand to help you learn some basic bird ID skills, with binoculars and telescopes available for you to practice!

If you've never been to Belfast WOW before, you'll be amazed by the wildlife that makes it home in the bustling Harbour Estate. With the Harland and Wolff cranes as a stunning backdrop, dozens of different types of birds can be spotted here all year round. The reserve is also home to the resident konik ponies, which munch the ground into the perfect condition for all sorts of wildlife, and are a firm favourite with visitors.

Even if you can only swoop in for a short while, you'll be able to enjoy a quick cuppa and one of the best views in Belfast!
