Blackthorn cottage is a 200-year-old property, which sits in a tree-lined fruit garden, in a small hamlet of houses and farms 2 miles from the village of Broughshane. This spacious and comfortable cottage has a double (or twin) bedroom, a small reading room (with sofa bed), a large well-equipped kitchen, and an airy light-filled sitting room. Sleeping 2 or 3 people, it is the perfect place to read, write, sketch, paint and relax. The cottage has books, CD player and CDs, and board games as well as a television. The cottage is heated by solar energy and a wood burning stove.
There is a large garden with mature trees, fruit bushes and shrubs; ample room for parking; garden furniture, and barbecue facilities.
Blackthorn Cottage is in a peaceful location in the sheep farming country of County Antrim. In addition, cattle, alpacas, ostriches, goats, horses and poultry can sometimes be spotted, as the cottage is located near working farms and stables.
The cottage is conveniently placed to explore much of Northern Ireland: it is less than an hour from Belfast; just 5 miles from the busy town of Ballymena, and close to the beautiful Glens of Antrim. The Giant's Causeway, Ballycastle, Rathlin Island, Cushendall and Cushendun, and Glenariff Forest Park are within easy reach.
