Brides Across the Bridge

29 April
In 2013, the city broke the record for the biggest number of brides in the one place at the same time. Hundreds of women, and the odd man, pulled on wedding dresses for the special occasion which also raised thousands of pounds for local charity Foyle Hospice. They gathered in Guildhall Square before making their way across the Peace Bridge to Ebrington Square. A total of 748 people took part in the event. Officials from the Guinness Book of World Records were on hand to confirm that the city had broken the record.

However, the record has now been broken after 843 brides, less than 100 more, recently gathered in the Guangdong province of China. Now we want our record back! Not only do we intend to break it, we hope to have over 1000 brides walking across the Peace Bridge this year.

Foyle Hospice are asking the City & North West to get behind them again by participating in the event on Saturday 29th April. Starting at 2.30pm, Brides will gather at Guildhall Square and make their way across the iconic peace bridge to get our record back.
