Cathedral Cottage

Catherdral Cottage, No 16 London Street, is situated within the historic walled city of Derry/Londonderry. Records show that there has been a house on this site from the eighteenth century and possibly earlier. The present property dates from about 1767 and has been sensitively restored by the current owners to provide the comforts and facilities of the present age while preserving as much as possible of the atmosphere of a by-gone era. London Street and the adjoining Pump Street are perhaps the best-preserved streets of the Georgian period within the walled city and exude, on a quiet evening, the atmosphere of a long-gone past.
The Cottage is three stories high and contains a fully-equipped kitchen, a living room and a toilet on the ground floor, an en suite double bedroom on the first floor and an en suite triple bedroom (1 double bed and 1 single bed) on the second floor.It adjoins its larger neighbour, Darcus Cottage, which is also available for self-catering rental. Gas-fired central heating provides a warm, cosy atmosphere on winter evenings. Cathedral Cottage is within a few hundred metres of the city's major theatres, the Millennium Forum and the Playhouse, and is close to the main shopping malls and several good restaurants and bars. The Cottage is available for rental on a short-term, weekly and monthly basis and provides an ideal location for guests and visitors who want to savour the atmosphere of the past in Ireland's only remaining walled city.Car parking is available in the nearby low-cost car park in Bishop Street. Pets are welcome, and there is free WiFi access throughout the house. Laundry and additional housekeeping facilities can be provided on request at an extra cost.This house may not be suitable for guests with mobility problems because the only access to the upper floors is by the stairs. Cot and high chair are available on request.
