The annual Causeway Coast Challenge Walk for 2017 is set to run again this year on Sunday 30th April. This event, run by local club Bannside Ramblers, is now in its 39th year of operation and continues to attract walkers from all over Ireland and further afield.
The 30 km challenge walk starts at Portballintrae, Co. Antrim and follows the scenic coastal cliff top path along Runkerry Beach, via the famous Giant's Causeway and eventually reaches Portbradden where participants turn and retrace their steps. This takes the total distance of the walk to over 30km of stunning views and scenery. The path is well marked and defined and contains a number of stepped ascents and descents and crosses rocky foreshores.
Registration takes place on the day, strictly between 8:00hrs and 9:00hrs at Portballintrae Village Hall, and walkers completing the event by 17:00hrs will receive a commemorative badge and signed certificate for their efforts. Participants are reminded that they should bring sufficient food and water to complete the distance and also wear suitable clothing and footwear for the prevailing conditions.
Last year 228 people completed the challenge, why not make this your year to finish the Causeway Coast Challenge Walk on Sunday 30th April. Further information can be accessed at www.bannsideramblers.co.uk
Entry fee to cover costs is £5 for adults and £3 for under 16's
