A re-created 1920s bridal suite – plus an intriguing display of wedding pictures are features of Cave Hill Visitor Centre housed within Belfast Castle. Embark here on a journey of discovery, from Stone Age cavedwellers, through the 1800s to the building of Belfast Castle in 1870, nearly bankrupting the aristocratic Donegall family which once owned most of the city. The Cavehill Visitor centre offers visitors the opportunity to discover more about the area and Belfast's roots as well as to learn about the animals and plants indigenous to the area.
Cavehill
The cavehill overlooks North Belfast. Its most dominant crag was nick-named Napoleon’s Nose, and was thought to have been the inspiration for Jonathan Swift's Gulliver's Travels. Having learned about the local wildlife at the visitor centre you may wish to view more animals at the nearby Belfast Zoo. Alternatively you may wish to take a walk in the Cave Hill Country Park.
