Celebrate Ulster Bread Making at the Suitor Craft Gallery

I learned to make bread watching my Grandmother who cooked on an open fire using a griddle and pot oven. She milked her own cows and strained the milk through muslin, leaving it in a crock for cream to settle. Every day plain, wheaten or fruit soda bread was made at home. With gingerbread or rich fruit cake for special occasions, all made in the pot oven on the open fire. Pancakes, farl bread, potato cakes and scones were all made on the griddle. Now we celebrate Strathroy milk, Fivemiletown cheese, Dromona butter & cheese, Cassidy’s Eggs, and Andrew’s Flour.
