This pretty 19th fisherman's cottage retains its rustic charm with period furniture but is fully modernised. Past a sandy beach, it sits right on the shore of Killough Bay, a RAMSAR reserve in an AONB, rich in bird, marine and botanical life.
Ardglass, a l6th port with 5 castles has a fishing fleet. The whole area called Lecale is drenched in history and fable. Newcastle's spectacular golf course and the Mourne Mountains with their outstanding landscape and geology are l0 miles S. Downpatrick, home to St Patrick's grave is 8 miles and Belfast 29 miles further N.
Castleward, a National Trust treasure is 8 miles NE near Strangford. From there a scenic ferry-crossing of beautiful Strangford Lough, a Marine Nature Reserve, arrives at Portaferry, home to the "Exploris" Aquarium.
Coney lsland is well known from Van Morrison's song "Coney Island" and in 2011 it featured in the Oscar-winning short film "The Shore".
