Creggandevesky Court Tomb

This tomb is situated near Lough Mallon about 2 miles south of An Creagan. The townland name may mean 'The Rock of the Black or Mossy Water'. It is between 4,000 and 6,000 years old. The tomb itself is apporximately 50ft long by 40ft wide and 7ft high. There are 3 burial chambers accessable through a limited entrance at the back of the open court. During excavation the remains of 21 people were found here accompanied by primitive pottery and flint tools.
