Experience Ards - Behind Closed Doors Coach Tour

16 August
Have you ever wondered what lies behind the door of an intriguing building? Why not find out, whilst hearing about the fascinating stories which bring them to life! This voyage of discovery will start at the captivating Priory of Newtownards which is steeped in fascinating history and not normally accessible to the public. Next you will get to explore inside Ballycopeland Windmill which was functional until the First World War when it fell into disrepair. After stopping for some refreshments, you will continue to Donaghadee where you will board one of the most modern lifeboats in the world, a Trent Class, costing around £1.3m. There are no sails or oars but with a top speed of around 25 knots and an operating distance of over 100 miles, "Saxon" is equipped to carry out sea rescues in even the very worst of conditions, all over the Irish Sea and beyond. You will then return to Ards via the Queen Anne Church at Balligan.
