Frightful Fun for Families

If you really want to get into the Halloween spirit, Northern Ireland has plenty of opportunities for discerning fright seekers to get their fix.

Here are a few ideas:

  • Go on a Belfast Ghost Walk.  Explore the shadows and alleyways of haunted Belfast.  Learn of our Jack the Ripper connection, the hangings of Cornmarket, the tale of the body snatchers and much more.
  • Join the the Belfast Ghostbus, run by Belfast City Tour.  The tour Includes a themed vintage bus trip around old Belfast, a visit to a specially-built 'Dungeon of Terror' plus plenty of surprises along the way. 
  • Climb aboard the Halloween Ghost Boat  with the Lagan Boat Company.  Enjoy a cruise of Belfast Harbour alongside a terrifying complement of passengers, as ghost stories and eery, live music echo across the waters.   
  • Enter the Nightmare Manor at the Banks of the Foyle Halloween Carnival in Londonderry/Derry.  Those who are brave enough can explore this haunted house where strange happenings and apparitions have been witnessed.
  • Enjoy a meal at Grace Neill's.  This atmospheric bar and restaurant in County Down claims to be Ireland's oldest pub.  It is said to be haunted by the 19th century landlady who gave it its modern name, with staff reporting unexplained activity such as glases and books being scattered throughout the bar.  Customers shouldn't worry too much, though - Grace is throught to be a friendly spirit.
