Winterfell Castle & Demesne, located just 40 minutes from Belfast, was used extensively for the filming of George R. R. Martin's epic adaption of his Game of Thrones® novels.
Many of the Game of Thrones® pivotal scenes were filmed on-site: ‘Winterfell Castle’, ‘King Robert's Arrival to Winterfell’, ‘Bran falls from Winterfell Castle’, ‘The Twins’, ‘Ned’s Picnic’, ‘Baelor Battlefield’, ‘Brienne Confronts the Stark men’, ‘Robb’s Camp’, ‘Lannister Camp’ and the ‘Whispering Wood’.
There are 3 self guided Game of Thrones cycle tour options:
Robb's Cycle Trail (allow approximately 1 1/4 hours)
Tywin's Cycle Trail (allow approximately 2 1/4 hours)
So now is your chance to tour these epic filming locations for yourself and recreate your own favourite scenes from Game of Thrones®. Firstly you will meet Winterfell Castle's Master-at-Arms in the ‘Armory & Forge’ who will issue you with a Game of Thrones tour ‘Stark Sack’ to ensure you can protect yourself deep in the North!
Your tour 'Stark Sack' includes:
• Medieval Scroll Game of Thrones Filming Locations map (you can keep this as a memento!) plus some supporting images and text for each tour filming location
• Medieval Cloak costumes
• Game of Thrones Stark Family LARP swords
Tour ticket cost: £27 per person
Robb's/Tywin's Trail + Direwolf Pups Trail:
Direwolf Pups Trail - Approx. 5 kms on smooth downhill trail, allow 2 1/4 hours including photo stops. The Direwolf Pups trail is located in Tollymore Forest in the foothills of the Mourne Mountains. The trail visits the key location where in Season 1 Episode 1 the Starks find the Direwolf pups in Wolfswood and bring them back to Winterfell. Other key Game of Thrones® filming locations along the Direwolf Pups trail include: The deep crater in the Haunted Forest where the Nights Watch men meet the Whitewalkers in Season 1 Episode 1; Riverside location where Tywin and Jon Snow stop to rest whilst travelling North from Winterfell Castle to the Nightswatch in Season 1 Episode 2.
Please ote that you need to self-drive to our other cycle hire centre at Tollymore once you have completed the trail at Winterfell. The drive takes approx. 35 minutes by road.
£65 per person (min. 2 people) for Bike Hire & 'Stark Sack' at both locations
