A magnificent Giant's Causeway day tour from Belfast in two distinct parts.
'One of the best days of our two weeks in Ireland' Allison Kirkpatrick, Edmonton, Canada
Part One - The day commences with a central Belfast departure from the International Youth Hostel on Donegall Road at 09:00 on a luxury coach. Alongside other visitors who won't do the cliff path walk part of the day, you journey to the north coast via one of the best coastal drives in the world, stopping briefly for a photograph and comfort break just out of Belfast at the 1,177 Norman, Carrickfergus Castle. Upon completion of the two hour stunning coastal drive the coach stops at the Carrick-a-Rede Rope bridge (check www.nationaltrust.org.uk/carrick-a-rede
for current price). The bridge spans 20 metres and is 30 metres above the rocks and sea below.
Part Two - While the other passengers on the coach go on to visit the Bushmills Whiskey distillery for a lunch break, you are dropped off with other walkers at Dunseverick, whereby you have time to eat a picnic (bring one with you) before commencing your breathtakingly beautiful five mile cliff path walk with your experienced local guide. You will enjoy some of the finest cliff scenery in Europe. The path which undulates significantly in parts ultimately culminates at the UNESCO world heritage site of the Giant's Causeway, by which stage you will start to meet your fellow coach passengers again. Your walking guide accompanies you to the main causeway site before ensuring you are safely returned to the coach for your return (shorter) inland drive back to Belfast. Returning to central Belfast around 19:00 in summer and 18:00 in winter.
Bring water, wear good footwear and appropriate clothing and be walking fit (no time for rope bridge in winter due to less daylight).
