Glenarm Holiday Townhouse is very conveniently located for walkers along the Ulster Way and Antrim Hills route which pass through the village and for cyclists as the Sustrans cycle network passes through Glenarm. Glenarm is a 40 minute drive from Belfast and a 1 hour drive to the Giant's Causeway and North Coast, with the renowned Glens of Antrim along the way. It is an ideal base for exploring the North of Ireland with its many well known attractions and lesser spotted villages.
Glenarm is one of the earliest villages in Ulster dating back to 13th century and is the seat of the Earls of Antrim, whose home is at Glenarm Castle. The village has an attractive quaintness as it has retained a great deal of its early architecture, streetscape and heritage, protected largely by its conservation status and its churches, landmark buildings and cemeteries are worth exploring and are well documented in brochures available locally. Glenarm also has a very rich natural heritage and environment which is again very accessible by public paths and well maintained village walks in addition to the Forest and Straidkelly Nature Reserve,(developed by Ulster Wildlife Trust),where red squirrels have been introduced and are fed by members of the local wildlife group. The restored wall garden at Glenarm Castle is open from May when the tulip festival takes place, until the end of September. The garden dating back to the 18th century and is a painter’s paradise for local art groups, and has many interesting features including the tea rooms.
With a supermarket offering a fresh butchery department, a coffee shop offering delicious light meals, a taxi service and pubs all literally a few doors away, the village can accommodate all visitors whatever their needs and a warm welcome is assured.
