The Junior Golf Academy is a unique organisation, currently the only one of its kind within Ireland, that offers young, golf-minded 16-19 year olds the opportunity to combine their chosen sport of golf with educational excellence.
Based at the excellent sporting facilities at Greenmount Campus in Antrim, the main programme is a two year full time course spanning over 36 weeks per year (following the academic year) and whilst training their fitness, nutrition, golf psychology and lifestyle skills, they are studying toward a BTEC National Diploma in Sport (equivilent to three 'A' Levels).
One of our success stories is our student Paul Cutler from Portstewart, who has achieved great golfing success whilst with us - he has been included in the Great Britain and Ireland squad for the 2009 Walker Cup in Pennsylvania.
In 2008, 33% of our intake came from the Republic of Ireland and we are expecting this number to rise, due to our coaching abilities, unique facilities and track record of achievement.
Our students go on to follow either higher education paths through university, or enter the business world following a number of career choices; sport, travel, leisure, business management, etc . Some of our students will follow a focused golfing career as teachers, players or support staff, including greenkeepers, etc.
