About

'Cill Bhronaigh', or Bronagh’s Church (12th century), is located in the graveyard just outside Rostrevor on the Hilltown Road. The graveyard contains Saint Bronagh’s Cross, dating from the late 8th century and a ruined 15th century building. There is also a ‘healing well’ said to cure eye and throat ailments. Saint Bronagh’s Bell, from the 6th century is displayed in the local Catholic Church in Rostrevor. Local folklore has it that if you pray to Bronagh and ring the bell three times, your prayer will be answered.

There can also be found the grave of Giant Murphy, who at 8ft 1 inch was the tallest man in the world in his day.
