Kilkeel River

Whitewater is a medium sized river (7 miles, 5-20m), the best of the fishing is in September and October but a spate is necessary. There is an accessible pool for disabled anglers.
Anglers will be fishing for Brown trout, sea trout and salmon. All legalmethods of fishing are allowed to help snare the 3 fish per day bag limit. Any fish less than 10 inches must be returned to the river. No boats are allowed and there is no wading in clear water, there are also size restrictions on spinners. All anglersmust have a Foyle, Carlingford and Irish Lights Commission licence and obtain a permit from the Kilkeel Sub Post Office (028) 4176 2225.
