Liam Ball Triathlon

The annual triathlon is one of the highlights of the city's sporting calendar and is organized in honour of the late Irish Olympic swimmer, Liam Ball. Ball, who was born in the city, competed in the men's 100 metres breaststroke and 200 metres breaststroke at the 1968 Mexico City and 1972 Munich Olympic summer games.

The triathlon comprises of a 750m swim, a 20km bike and a 5km run. The event is part of Triathlon Ireland's sprint event ranking series.
