Lisburn and Castlereagh presents Treat Week, a 7-day celebration of our tastiest restaurants. Running from Saturday 29th October to 5th November, eateries from the region will come together to deliver one-off food and drink experiences. Bringing together restaurants, cafes and gastropubs, Treat Week will deliver one off food and drink experiences with Northern Ireland's Year of Food and Drink.
We promise to whet your appetite with a choice of gourmand evenings, cooking masterclasses, themed evenings, afternoon teas, brunch at my place, explore & discover, pop-up suppers, chef & guerrilla cooks, meet the producers and village food trails.
Lisburn & Castlereagh Treat Week promises to be an adventurous collaboration of all those involved in our food scene from Farm to Fork, creating a lasting legacy for our local restaurant scene.
In the spirit of the Year of Food & Drink 2016, we are encouraging the public to get involved and discover the true Taste of Ulster. Lisburn and Castlereagh has its fair share of Northern Ireland’s foodie destinations stretching from Moira to Dundonald. Leading the way is Chef Chris McGowan’s restaurant, Wine and Brine, which has recently been crowned the UK’s Best Local Restaurant by The Good Food Guide. There are many other local food heroes dedicated to provenance and showcasing Northern Ireland’s food heritage such as Stevie Higginson, Derek Patterson and Stephen Jeffers. There are a few new kids on the block too making a name for themselves so it is worth keeping posted – you never know what culinary treasures you may come across.
Harvest Fest Cookery Demos
A number of well-known chefs from Lisburn and Castlereagh will be at St. George’s market on 22 - 23 October for Harvest Fest, and will be showing you how to serve up some tasty dishes to celebrate the harvest season.
Halloween Fest at Inns Market
Halloween Fest at Inns Market launches Treat Week with a special themed market on Saturday 29th October. The market will feature its usual mix of local, seasonal and artisan producers along with cooking demos featuring top chefs including Stevie Higginson and Stephen Jeffers, with Sarah McGreechan from Sarah’s World Fare sharing tips on meat free and vegan cooking. A scarily good line-up of our food heroes showing how to make the most of local and seasonal produce. Fancy dress is encouraged with family fun in the form of story-telling, potato printing, balloon modelling and of course face painting to complete those costumes.
Chef Demos at Forestside
For anyone that has a few minutes to spare while doing their shopping, the Chef Demos at Forestside will feature top chefs from across Lisburn & Castlereagh.
Kitchen Sessions & Meet the Producers Fair
Kitchen Sessions & The Meet the Producers Fair is the perfect excuse to get your weekly food shop off to a good start and take in some chilled Saturday afternoon vibes at the same time. Lisburn Square will play host to local meat, dairy and vegetable farmers and small batch artisan producers. Top local chefs will provide inspiration for dishes you can easily create at home in the Kitchen Sessions. With family fun, live music, street food and artisan coffee, there is something to keep big and small happy.
From Pop Up Chef Tables at Forestside Cookery School to Special Gourmet Evenings in Lisburn, Treat Week promises to deliver something to sink your teeth into across Lisburn and Castlereagh. Not forgetting a Family Fun Day, a Spanish Themed Evening, Sunday Brunches, Bistro Nights and special offers throughout the region.
