Leave Lisburn on the Lagan Towpath towards Belfast and after about 1.5 miles turn right onto Bridge Street to Tullynacross. After turning left into Sandy Lane in the village the Belfast Hills can be seen off to the left. Turn right onto the Ballyskeagh Road and rejoin the towpath near Drumbeg church and head back towards Lisburn, leaving the towpath once again at Lambeg. Use the cycle lanes on the Belfast Road and continue through Wallace Park, keeping to the marked cycle lane. Use West Circular Road, Benson Street (pedestrian crossing of Thiepval Road) then turn right onto Causeway End Road to reach the Ballinderry Road. Continue on Knocknarea and Daggar Roads and cross the main Moira Road to Maze village. Leave the built-up area at Maze village by the Lurganure Road and eventually turn left at Halfpenny Gate, cross the River Lagan at The New Bridge then pass through the Maze Racecourse on Dunnygarton Road to Gravelhill Road before returning via the Blaris Road to the towpath at the former Union Locks and back to Lisburn.

Getting to the start: Follow NCN Route 9 from Lisburn or Moira. Lisburn railway station is approx. 1mile away. If travelling by car follow signs for the Civic Centre. Ample car parking at the Civic Centre or nearby metered car parks.
Traffic: Light traffic on the minor roads but busy traffic beside the cycle lane on the Belfast Road between Lambeg and Wallace Park. Take care crossing any main road. Care needed on the Blaris Road
Terrain:Flat sections along the Lagan Towpath and parkland and gently undulating throughout the remainder of the ride
