Local Crafts Showcase at theTower Museum

17 December
The Tower Museum will host a unique event to raise awareness of the innovative arts and crafts projects that people with disabilities within the Derry City Council area have created.

This innovative craft event will take place at the Education Suite in the Tower Museum - which opens out into the Craft Village - and is being organised to coincide with the Walled City Market that is taking place over the weekend at Guildhall Square.

The event starts at 11.00 am and runs until 4.00pm on Saturday and will showcase the best of local arts and crafts created by people with disabilities in our community.

Encouraging the public to come along and support the event, Derry City Council’s Equality Officer Kay McIvor said it was an excellent opportunity to purchase some locally produced quality Christmas gifts and find out more about the wealth of local talent.

“This promises to be an excellent event, not only does it help us to promote positive attitudes towards people with disabilities but it also provides the artists with an opportunity to interact with the public and get some positive feedback on their work. I would encourage the public who are out and about in the city centre this weekend to take some time out and call in to the Tower Museum,” she commented.
