Lough Cowey

The fishery is open all year round. It is stocked with trout on a regular basis and has good quality overwintered fish available in early spring. Fish are taken by "matching the hatch". Bags of large fish are frequent with buzzers, streamers and lures being amongst the most popular flies.

Anglers can fish for brown trout during the game season from 1st of March to 31 October and can fish for pike all year round. Permitted methods are: fly, worm and spinning from the car park bank for trout, and deadbaiting from the car park bank for pike. The daily bag limit is four trout per rod and one pike per person up to four kg (All pike weighing four kg or more must be returned alive and unharmed to the water). A DCAL game rod licence and angling permit are required to fish Lough Cowey.
