Lough Keenaghan

Keenaghan is a very popular lake which attracts anglers from near and far. The north and south shores are mostly hard bottomed and easy to wade. Fishing from the western shore is impeded by bulrush and other aquatic weeds. Where shore angling is difficult, a number of natural stone stands have been provided. There is a car-park on the north side with a hardcore access road. The lake provides unsurpassed brown trout angling and is regularly and heavily stocked. The annual stocking is 7500 takeable brown trout. This is a highly productive shallow lough. Successful flies include Olives, Midges, Buzzers and Caddis. Boats may be hired from Sean Maguire, Melving Tackle, Main Street, telephone (028) 68658194.
