Join local photographer Danny Gibson to take close-up nature photography to the next level.
This event will include a short indoor session, followed by hands-on guidance on the reserve to get that star snap of butterflies, bugs and beautiful plant life.
If you’ve never been to Portmore Lough before, you’ll be amazed by this hidden gem nestled in the countryside just eight miles from Moira.
The RSPB NI nature reserve boasts all sorts of wonderful wildlife at this time of year, including common terns that have travelled all the way from Africa. This haven for nature is also home to a herd of hardy konik ponies, which munch the ground into the perfect condition for all sorts of wildlife, and are a firm favourite with visitors.
In August, the reserve is buzzing with butterflies and bees, dragonflies and damselflies and stunning plants like purple loosestrife and maybe even the rare Irish Lady’s Tresses orchid.
