Martello Tower at Magilligan, one of 74 constructed on the island, was built between 1812 and 1817 to guard against a possible Napoleonic invasion. Come and see one of the few intact towers left in Ireland with its cannon platform and quarters for 13 men and learn about its history, design and use.

It also provides a suitable vantage point to view its twin tower across the Foyle estuary in Co. Donegal and the Magilligan Point Nature Reserve.

Location / Directions

Off A2 at Magilligan Point. Take B202 from A2, the Limavady to Coleraine Coastal Route. Tower is approx 16km north of Limavady. Drive past the ferry terminal and Martello Tower appears on your left hand side. Parking available.
