May Bank Holiday in Northern Ireland

There are plenty of family fun activities and festivals happening on this May Bank Holiday right across Northern Ireland.

From Family Fun Days, Food & Craft fairs to Maritime & Music Festivals there will be a wide selection of events near you this weekend to keep the whole family entertained.

Children In Need stand For a fun day out for the kids and bring your pet, head along to Stormont Family Fun Day and support Pudsey where there will be lots of family fun and entertainment in support of Children in Need.  Activities and events will including sheepdog trials, motorcycle display, treasure trails, dog agility competitions and much more.  Get the family together to IKEA for their May Bank Holiday Fun and enjoy a host of free activities and fun. Activities include face painting, doodlebugs workshops and mask making with the woodland trust. It's all about the kids!  Or if you and your family like adventure why not get away from it all and take the family for some adrenalin fun at Jungle NI where there are a feast of adventure activites from Archery, Boat Rides, Body Zorbs, Fun Zorbs, Climbing Wall, to Crazy Golf Kart Challenge and Llama Trekking to name but a few,

maritimeAhoy there sailors!  Check out Belfast Titanic Maritime Festival where you can learn about the city's Maritime history where the quayside will play host to a a range of FREE activities - Get the kids' day off to an exciting start with pirate and kite making workshops with Young at Art along with face painting, and balloon modelling.  Visit the Drawing Offices where Ocean Exploration Centre will have its road show set up for interactive science experiments, demonstrations, games and lots more.  There are lots more fun outdoor activites that you can join in from BMX workshops at T13 to Zip lining with We Are Vertigo, or try your hand at a Segway Obstacle Course.  Join in and celebrate the rich maritime heritage at heart of the Causeway Coast who will play host to the Rathlin Sound Maritime Festival.  From the adrenaline rush of the Sailing Regatta and races as well as exciting have a go activities, to tempting food and craft markets, friendly giants and Viking ships, there’s plenty to choose from including fantastic family friendly events.


florence courtExplore nature and the woodlands at Carnmoney and have a go at Curragh Building, Bushcraft, Wood Turning, Archery and various arts and crafts at Carnmoney Hill Woodland Festival.  Families can also try a taste of life in the Victorian and Bronze Age at living history campsites on the day. This free event will inspire everyone to explore the amazing local natural heritage on offer on their doorstep in the Belfast Hills. Visit the Country Fair at Florence Court where there will be a packed programme for all the family with dog shows, crafts rare breeds, live breeds and much more.  For all crafts enthusiasts or for a family day out head to the historic city of Armagh who are hosting its 4th Craft Fair.  Located in the wonderful surroundings of The Market Place Theatre in Armagh, this high quality event offers something for everyone with even more beautiful and affordable craft, free craft demonstrations, a free craft exhibitions, great food, musical entertainment and much more.


Blues on the bayMay Bank Holiday weekend will also be jam packed with music entertainment.  Check out the the 16th annual Guinness Blues on the Bay Festival  in Warrenpoint, County Down, where there will be a fantastic line up of performances.  Some highlights of the festival this year are Van Morrison, Larry Garner & Norman Beaker, Ralph McClean and The Lee Hedley Band. For all you foodies and music lovers Join Cool FM Roadshow at Cuttersfest for a host of activities including entertainment, a fiery BBQ and tricycle trading ice-cream all the family will sure to be entertained.
