Mountain Biking

Whether you're into gentle rides around forest tracks, or full-on downhill racing, Northern Ireland has the mountain biking experience for you.

From the Mourne Mountains in the South East to the Sperrins in the North West, wherever you're staying there will be quality mountain biking nearby. With purpose built family trails being developed and long distance cross-country trails in the pipeline, the mountain biking scene is only getting better.

There are currently two designated mountain biking areas in Northern Ireland (Moneyscalp Wood, near Newcastle County Down and Gortin Glen Forest Park, near Omagh County Tyrone). There are countless places to explore and with local knowledge and trail advice always available on www.mtbrider.com (a Belfast-based but province-wide web community), you'll never be lost for somewhere to go.

Visit www.countrysiderecreation.com for information on clubs and contact details.

Some of the best information on places to ride your bike off-road comes from local riders and clubs who know the area.
