Musici Ireland at the Ardhowen Theatre

29 March
Music in Fermanagh is delighted to present Musici Ireland in concert at the Ardhowen Theatre on Wednesday 29th March at 8pm. This will be a wonderful concert for those just beginning to experience classical music as well as those who are already music lovers. Three immensely talented ladies, Beth McNinch, viola, Dianne Marshall, harp and Riona O Duinnin, flute will play sweet, sweet music. Musici Ireland is one of our leading chamber groups and the combination of flute, viola and harp is heartrendingly beautiful and has a surprisingly wide repertoire. The concert harp is spectacular not only to hear but to see and it will capture the imagination of both young and old.
Debussy and Ravel are often called the French Impressionists of the music world. Their work is full of colour, light and sparkle, the counterparts of Monet’s paintings of water lilies or Degas’ dancers. This concert will bring us Debussy’s trio for flute, harp and viola and Ravel’s trio sonata.
Arnold Bax was an Englishman who fell in love with Ireland at the beginning of the last century, to the extent that he brought his young wife and growing family to live in Dublin. The concert will include the trio he wrote as his sad reaction to the 1916 Uprising, for he loved both England and Ireland passionately.
John Buckley’s arrangements of Irish traditional music will include The Coolin, The Bard of Armagh, Eleanor Plunkett and The Plains of Boyle.
