Latest Updates

  • EHOD would like to apologise for an error printed in the EHOD 2014 brochure.  The postcode for Tower Hill, Armagh, should read BT61 9DR
  • NEW ENTRY - EHOD are delighted to add St Mark's Church, Dundela, Belfast, to our list of openers.  Please see their web entry here, as they are not featured in the hard copy brochure of pdf.

  • Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, Colebrooke Park will no longer be open to the public over EHOD weekend.  
  • EHOD would like to apologise for an error printed in the EHOD 2014 brochure.  Parliament Buildings will NOT be open on Sunday as published in the hard copy brochure.  Teas are to be booked by contacting Parliament Buildings on 02890 521041 or email supportservices@niassembly.gov.uk
  • EHOD would like to apologise for an error printed in the EHOD 2014 brochure.  The Fall talk will take place on Friday 12th September at 12.30pm, and not as advertised on p. 47 of the brochure.    Please note, pre-booking is essential from 28th August.

  • The Titanic Tour by the Lagan Boat Company NI Ltd is now fully booked.
  • NEW ENTRY - EHOD are delighted to add Armagh County Museum, Armagh, to our list of openers.  Please see their web entry here as they are not featured in the hard copy brochure or pdf.
  • EHOD would like to apologise for an error printed in the EHOD 2014 brochure.  The listing in the County Londonderry section for Coleraine Library should read  that the Library is open Saturday: 9:30am - 5:00pm and Sunday: 1:00pm - 5:00pm.  There is a Heritage Rhytm & Rhyme event on Sunday 14th Sept at 2:30 pm, and no tours or Victorian themed storytime. Correct details are on page 13 of the brochure.
  • EHOD would like to apologise for an error printed in the EHOD 2014 brochure.  The postcode for Ballinderry War Memorial Hall, Antrim, should read BT28 2ER.
  • EHOD are delighted to announce the addition of an evening event - French Baroque Music Concert - at St George's Church, Belfast. On Saturday 13th September at 7.30pm there will be a concert of French Baroque music held in the church. Programme to include music by Jean-Baptiste Lully, André Campra and François Couperin, performed by Rachel Thompson (soprano), Lynda Barrett (soprano), Nuala Murray (mezzo-soprano), Emma Gibbins (organ) and Geoffrey Higgins (harpsichord).   • NIEA would like to apologise for the cancellation of the opening of Newtownards Priory over EHOD weekend.  This is due to ongoing conservation works.

  • The Copeland Bird Observatory tour is fully booked.
  • The Historical Bus Tour of Ring of Gullion is fully booked.
  • EHOD would like to apologise for an error printed in the EHOD 2014 brochure.  The listing in the County Tyrone section for Omagh Library should read that the Family History Workshop is being held on Thursday 11th September, and not Saturday 13th, as advertised on page 83 of the brochure.
  • The Crumlin Road Gaol tours are all fully booked.
  • UPDATE - St Malachy's Church are now offering three free tours as part of EHOD weekend.  On Saturday 13th September there will be a tour at 11am and 3pm, and on Sunday 14th at 3pm.  Opening hours have also been amended for Sunday 14th September.  St Malachy's will now be closing at 4pm.
  • The European Heritage Day Vintage Bus Tours are all fully booked.
  • EHOD would like to apologise for an error printed in the EHOD 2014 brochure.  The listing in the Belfast section for the Georgian Belfast tour should read:  Georgian Belfast.  Although regarded as a Victorian city, Belfast still retains architectural gems from the Georgian period (1714 – 1837). This tour will explore Georgian architecture in its many guises, visiting public architecture at its finest and uncovering hidden terraced housing.  Time and booking information are correct.
  • The tours at BBC Broadcasting House are all fully booked.
  • NEW ENTRY - EHOD are delighted to add The Thomas Andrews Shipbuilder Memorial Hall – known as the Andrews Memorial Hall to our list of openers.  Please see their web entry here, as they are not featured in the hard copy brochure or pdf.
  • EHOD would like to apologise for an error printed in the EHOD 2014 brochure.  On page 75, the Manor House is in Eglinton, and not Ebrington as published.  Postcode and directions are correct, please use these to find your way to the Manor House, in the centre of Eglinton Village.
  • With many apologies, the Ulster Aviation Collection will no longer be opening for EHOD in 2014.
  • The National Trust would like to make visitors aware that entry to the interior of Mussenden Temple will be restricted on Saturday 13th September due to a wedding.  With best wishes to the bride and groom from the EHOD team.
  • The Georgian Belfast tour on Sat 13th Sept, 11.30am is now fully booked.   PLACE would like to let anyone who missed a place on this tour know that another FREE Georgian Belfast Tour is available on Sat 20th September at 11:30 - booking via their website www.placeni.org.

  • The Art Deco Tour on Sun 14th Sept, 11am is now fully booked.   PLACE would like to let anyone who missed a place on this tour that another FREE Art Deco Tour is available on Sun 21st September at 11:30am - booking via their website www.placeni.org.
  • The PLACE Urban Photo Walk is now fully booked.
  • Please note, the booking line for Ashbrook House has now changed to: (028) 7134 9223.  Tour times are: 10am, 10:45am, 11:30am, 12:15pm, 1pm, 1:45pm, 2:30pm, 3:15pm, 4pm  - Booking essential.  There  will be a small WWI exhibition and vintage tea with a selection of cakes and biscuits from the war era available.
  • The tour of Ebrington Barracks will now be led by Alan Armstrong, local historian.  Tour time remains 2pm Saturday 13th September - no need to book.
  • EHOD would like to apologise for an error printed in the EHOD 2014 brochure.  On page 23, the Magherintemple House and Gate Lodge should say 'Open Day at Magherintemple Lodge'. Please note, the House is not open for EHOD, the Gate Lodge only will be open.
  • 'The Fall' talk on Friday 12th September is now fully booked.
  • Belfast Civic Trust Bus Tour on Friday 12th September is now fully booked.
  • The Origami House tours are now fully booked.
  • Armagh Gaol are now putting on tours over EHOD weekend.  Tours will be on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th at 12:00, 13:00, 14:00, 15:00 and 16:00.  Admission will be by ticket only.   • The Game of Thrones talk at Castle Ward is now fully booked.

  • Northern Ireland Secret Bunker tours are now fully booked.
  • Following a meeting of Lisburn Buildings Preservation Trust today, the decision has been taken to cancel the planned EHOD event at Hilden Primary School. Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond the control of Lisburn Buildings Preservation Trust (LBPT) it is not now possible to offer public access to the former school building, and as the interior of the building is the main attraction for EHOD, it is with deep regret that LBPT have to cancel this Open Day event.
  • Tours of Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge and Fisherman's Cottage are now FULLY BOOKED.

  • Update from Armagh Planetarium: Our 12pm “Perfect Little Planet” Digital Theatre show is now fully booked.  We have put on another showing of it at 11:15am.  Please see web entry here to book.
  • Actually Belfast's Walking Tours of Belfast City Centre are now fully booked.
  • Northern Ireland Water Silent Valley Talk - Change of Times: Please note, there will now be one talk only at 2:30pm on Sunday 14th September.  Dr Philip Donald FICE, will present his recent paper, “The Building of the Silent Valley Dam - Setting the Record Straight”, which challenges untruths that have been allowed to circulate unchallenged for over eighty years  Places are still available - please ring (028) 9054 3022 to book.
  • UPDATE: Unfortunately the Somewhereto_ Emma Horan event has had to be cancelled at short notice.  The Draft Killough Village Plan Event is still taking place at 2pm.  More detail on the event can be found here.
  • Hilden Brewery's free brewery tours are now fully booked.
  • Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, Ashfield School will no longer be open to the public over EHOD weekend.

  • Updated times:  Sion Mills Stableblock will be open from 9am to 5pm on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th September, with tours available on demand.
