New period comedy filmed in Fermanagh to hit TV screens on Sunday
An eagerly anticipated BBC period comedy series filmed at a County Fermanagh country estate will air this weekend.
'Blandings', based on author PG Wodehouse's hilarious accounts of the life and times of Lord Emsworth of Blanding Castle, begins on Sunday 13th January on BBC 1 at 6.30pm.
The six-part series was filmed at Crom Castle in Fermanagh (plus three days at Florence Court) and stars well-known actors such as Timothy Spall, Jennifer Saunders, David Walliams and Mark Williams, just to name a few.
Crom Castle stands on elevated parkland amidst an archipelago of wooded islands and peninsulae in tranquil Upper Lough Erne. Built for the Third Earl of Erne in the 1830s it was designed by the English architect Edward Blore who was responsible for sections of Buckingham Palace, and has been the home to the Crichton family, Earls of Erne for centuries.
The Earl of Erne and staff at Crom Castle were "honoured" that Crom had been selected for such a pretigious production and look forward to its highly anticipated screening and its future success.
"I am waiting with bated breath. I think it will be a fabulous production," said Viscount Crichton, son of the Earl, in a recent interview with the Belfast Telegraph.
With recent headlines such as "BBC looks to steal Downton ratings with two helpings of PG Wodehouse" (The Observer, 30 December 2012) and "Estate of grace... move over Downton, Ulster country pile is newest star of TV" (Belfast Telegraph, 1 January 2013) great success is expected for 'Blandings'.

Whether you are seeking creative inspiration, spiritual fulfilment or are planning a corporate get-together, an exclusive 'boutique' wedding, a family holiday, or reunion, the interior elegance of the West Wing, together with the majesty and serenity of its surroundings makes Crom an irresistible destination.
