New season & new look for The Argory
This weekend marked the official opening of the new and improved visitor facilities at The Argory, the National Trust property near Moy. Special guests, including Lady Mayor of Armagh City & District, Councillor Freda Donnelly and the Mayor of Dungannon and South Tyrone Borough Council, Councillor Kenneth Reid joined National Trust staff and volunteers to celebrate the new and improved Courtyard Coffee Shop, Gift Shop, Book Shop, and Reception.
The development of improved visitor facilities at The Argory is part of a wider project to enhance the overall visitor experience and increase visitor numbers for the Mid Ulster property group, which also manages Ardress House, Springhill House and Wellbrook Beetling Mill.
The Argory will now be able to welcome and cater for coach groups in the new
Courtyard Coffee Shop, as well as provide an extensive range of product for visitors to purchase in the new gift shop. The second-hand book shop has also been relocated
and extended and offers visitors the chance to browse through the collection in relaxing surroundings.
The Argory staff and volunteers are getting ready for a packed season ahead which will start on 18 March with a Mother’s Day event featuring music in the house and afternoon teas in the Octagon Room. There will be Easter fun with outdoor trails and activities and a host of other exciting events throughout the year including special weekends linked to the local maritime heritage and the Birkenhead, a Country Fair, Jubilee celebrations and the annual return of the popular canine event ‘Scrufts’.
Edward Mason, Mid Ulster property group Manager commented ‘We have invested financially in developing facilities to improve the visitor experience and appeal to local and overseas visitors and we are so excited at what this season will bring’.
The Argory officially opened on Saturday 10 March and will be open to the end of October. For further information on opening times visit www.nationaltrust.org.uk/ni or call The Argory on 028.8778 4753.
