Sleepy Orchard is a new venture for the Sloan family and their Irish wolfhound dog named Paddy. Although massive is size and a loud bark, he is known as the gentle giant of the Orchard.
This is one of the first historical Christian sites in Ireland reputed to be where St Patrick held his first Christian meeting, on the grounds of the little Church (now Church of Ireland) just south of the Sleepy Orchard and of Paddy’s Barn. The Sloan family feel privileged in becoming owners of this historical site. The house has acquired its name because it has been built on the grounds of the old orchard.
The bedrooms are simple yet tastefully decorated leaving them bright and airy. There is a real feeling of country freshness with lots of country sounds. You can hear the birds singing and the rush from the Saul Damn River, feel the soft breezes through the trees, and see the beautiful silhouette of the most photographed Church in Ireland.
Gabriel Sloan and wife Maeve are your hosts at Sleepy Orchard. They have been managing Paddys Barn together for the past six years.
It is 30 seconds from the Bar & Restaurant (Paddy's Barn) were you can have lunch, evening meals, lots of drink and plenty of good aul Irish craic. What more would one wish for than to spend the weekend with us in such a historical place as Saul.
