This is one of the main fishing ports in the province, and the fleet of trawlers provides a fascinating sight with the daily comings and goings. The town is famous for its prawns and herrings, which have given rise to a fish processing industry as well as boat building. The talk here is of boats and the sea, day in and day out. A little inland is Kirkistown Race Track. This is a former airfield and now the venue for regular car and motorcycle races that pull the crowds throughout the summer season.
