Romantic Goodies and Gifts

Sometimes a little inspiration is required to really sweep your loved one off their feet and Northern Ireland offers some distinctive craft presents.

All That Glitters

A bit of sparkle is always a treat on Valentine's Day and there are plenty of local designers taking handcrafted jewellery to a whole new level.  At Thomas the Goldsmith in the Walled City of Derry, or The Steensons, Belfast & Glenarm, there are great contemporary styles to choose from.  Designers such as Rachel McKnight, Jill Graham and Nora Watson accept commissions for one-off pieces but you can also purchase their stunning collections in a range of stores across Northern Ireland. Golddigger 79 in Holywood,  Space CRAFT in Belfast, The Buttermarket in Enniskillen and Ards Crafts in Newtownards, and the Craft Village in the Walled City of Derry are full of creative ideas.

Sweet Surprises

Koka ChocolatesOf course Valentine's Day would not be the same without chocolate so why not surprise your sweetheart with award winning locally produced Irish Wildflower Honey and Chilli truffles from the special edition range produced by Koka - Contemporary Irish Chocolatiers. Bonamargy Chocolates on the North Coast also produce high quality chocolates, cakes and speciality products entirely by hand.  And the Chocolate Room on Belfast’s Lisburn Road is chocolate heaven, with a superb range of some of the finest chocolates and hot chocolates in the world!

Something Different

Give someone special a gift with a difference this Valentine’s such as a short, practical course in arts or crafts. Visit a workshop or studio and see the craft process at first hand and have the opportunity to test your skills. There are many locations where you can view the artist at work, buy from the gallery and even commission a unique piece of work. Don’t forget to contact the designer first to arrange an appointment if necessary - opening hours may vary particularly during the winter season.
