Our cosy one-bedroom cottage, Leckan Beg, is our most popular accommodation. Situated outside Rostrevor, Co. Down. Leckan Beg is part of a group of 9 self-catering units known as Lecale Cottages. Perfect for couples wanting to escape for either a weekend, or a longer 2 week-stay, it is a great base for exploring the Mourne Mountains. Looking out the main window of Leckan Beg, you will have a view down the valley to Carlingford Lough.
For those that require a bit more room, Crotlieve is a 2-storey cottage, with a large family-bedroom upstairs. With 1 double bed and 2 singles, it comfortably sleeps a family with 2 children.
Both cottages have a combined kitchen/living/dining area. Leckan Beg has a bathroom, whilst Crotlieve has a shower room. Oil-fired central heating is in both cottages, with Leckan Beg having the addition of an open-fire. We can provide cots and highchairs if needed.
On site, there is plenty to do, with a children’s playground and tennis court if you are feeling energetic. The 1.5km riverside/farm trail is perfect for a morning stroll or a secluded picnic. This brings you right around the farm on which Lecale Cottages are situated, and runs along the Yellow Water River.
If you are looking to explore Ireland, Rostrevor is the perfect place to base yourself. Belfast can be reached within an hour, whilst Dublin is only 90 minutes away. We will be happy to help you with your travel plans. The local area is brimming with places to see and discover, from the colours of the trees in Kilbroney Forest Park through to the magnificent views from Cloc Mor. If shopping is on the agenda, the local town of Newry is rarely out of the news these days as a great place to go, whilst The Outlet in Banbridge offers big savings on well-known brands.
