Peter was a fighter pilot in the Battle of Britain in 1940. Now he flies solo in a retirement home. He misses his wife and his independence. He remembers the seemingly limitless blue skies over Kent, the courage of fallen comrades and his mistress - the Spitfire. Struggling to write his will, an unexpected visitor arrives with dramatic news which turns his life upside down. The Battle of Britain is over. Peter's own battle is about to begin.
