St George's Market

St George's Market is one of Belfasts oldest atttractions and recognised as one of the best markets in the UK and Ireland. It has been selected for numerous local and national titles and awards for its fresh, local produce and great atmosphere. It holds weekly Friday, Saturday and Sunday Markets.

Friday Variety Market - There is approximately 248 market stalls selling a variety of products including: fruit, vegetables, antiques, books, clothes and fish. The fish section alone holds the reputation for being the leading retail fish market on the island of Ireland.

Saturday City Food and Craft Market has a fusion of tempting speciality foods from around the world as well as handmade crafts, flowers, plants and local photography, pottery, glass and metal work.

Sunday Market has a mixture of the Friday and Saturday markets with a special emphasis on local arts and crafts, offering more local craftspeople the opportunity to show off their talents. You can also expect live music from local bands.

It's this assorted mix that attracts thousands of visitors each week.

St George's Market was named the UK's Best Large Indoor Market 2014 by the National Association of British Market Authorities and was also voted the nation’s favourite Heritage project in the 2014 National Lottery Awards. St George’s Market beat off six other challengers in a public vote to win the Best Heritage Project.

TRANSPORT
A free market bus runs every 20 minutes between the City Centre (outside Boots the Chemist, Donegall Place or HMV, Castle Place) and the market. Bus departs 08:00 on Friday and every 20 minutes thereafter. Bus departs 09:00aon Saturday and every 20 minutes thereafter.

St George’s Market is located opposite Belfast Waterfront Hall and the Hilton Hotel in Oxford Street, which runs parallel to the River Lagan. From the rear of Belfast city Hall walk eastwards down May Street for a few minutes, cross over Victoria Street and St George’s is directly in front of you.
