Tamsin Blackbourn

This independent boutique of artisan womenswear and jewellery is based in Belfast City Centre in Upper Arthur Street, right beside the City Hall. Designer and maker, Tamsin Blackbourn creates jewellery in the workshop at the rear of the shop and the clothing in her sewing studio in Derry.

Tamsin has a family heritage of dressmaking, millinery and tailoring as both her grandmothers had worked in the rag trade, one making lingerie for Liberty of London, the other designing hats. She has memories of wearing hand-sewn dresses in childhood and the intention is that her own collection will become loved clothes that remain in the wardrobe for many years. The women who choose her designs are looking for well made garments in beautiful fabrics that are easy to wear and look after, clothes with a vintage feel in a contemporary garment.

However, her formal art school training was in metal work and she quickly started working in jewellery upon graduating. "For me, it is to do with a love of making things and my approach is the same for designing clothing and jewellery. The material often inspires, be it metal, precious stones or textile fabric. I imagine what it can become."

The bespoke service for jewellery means you can have something specially designed and made to your own criteria. Perhaps you have a precious stone you would like to have set, maybe the offering on the high street is too mainstream to meet your personal style. Commissioning a unique design becomes particularly appropriate when looking for an engagement ring or wedding bands. Beginning with a consultation, then on to the next stage of reviewing drawings and stones, until the final piece is delivered. This is a process for those with imagination, patience and the desire to own something truly unique and meaningful.

Also stocked are carefully selected guest jewellery designers including Diana Porter, Niessing, Sonya Bennett, Bastian, Skulls & Orchids, Kate Wood, and Trollbeads.
