Tassagh Cycle Route

Cycling Route

Starting at the Mall, the route passes through

the traffic-free Folly Glen on NCN route 91 before following

narrow twisting roads through the townlands of Cavanacaw

and Killycapple. A short but very steep ascent (you may have to

get off and push!) passes close to several quarries before the

high point (locally called the Cairn Stones) is reached. After a

break, you descend towards Segaghan Dam, turn right for a

short stretch on the B31, then left to reach the Callan river

north of Tassagh. Following the river downstream, in

approximately two miles you pass under the soaring arches of

the Tassagh railway viaduct. You then cross the A20 before

turning right towards Milford - the ‘Home of the Penalty Kick’.

From this historic village the route crosses the A3 then

continues to Navan Fort. The Navan Centre (entrance on the

right) is well worth a visit. From here you continue to the Callan

riverside path then climb past the Church of Ireland Cathedral

to arrive at the City centre.
