The 324th Annual ‘Shutting of the Gates’ Commemorations

The Apprentice Boys of Derry Annual Shutting of the Gates Commemorations will take place on Saturday 1 December 2012. This will be the 324th Annual Celebration of the Shutting of the Gates at the start of the great Siege of 1688-1689.

The day includes the memorable burning of the effigy of ‘Lundy’ on Bishops Street, which takes place around 4pm. The bells will be rung and Crimson flags hoisted. The Siege colour Crimson shall be worn.
