The Portstewart Community Red Sails Festival

Supported by the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council and the Big Lottery Fund, The Red Sails Festival 2017 has more free attractions than ever before. In addition to the variety of musicians and bands performing at the Crescent Bandstand, there are also 27 Café music sessions. Concerts at the Bandstand, to name a few, include The Ritchie Remo Big Band, Roll With It-Oasis Tribute Band, Simply Swing (Andi Mac and Jason Maguire) and The Willie Drennan Ulster Scots Band. Attractions and events for kids include a Fairy Tree and Garden, Puppet Theatre shows, magic show storytelling and a Viking themed workshop. Other children’s competitions include Talent, Sandcastle, Pavement Art and Fancy Dress. Adding to the atmosphere on the Promenade at various times over the course of the week, there will be a number of walkabout street theatre characters such as Miss Shell The Singing Mermaid, Workout Wendy, Fizzy The Fairy, Mr Whizzy, Pirate Peg and more. With O’Hara’s Castle a backdrop, The Red Sails Festival Finale Fireworks Display has become one of the most popular displays in Ireland.
