Transformations: Politics and Protest in Co Down, 1900s-1920s

30 November - 15 May
The First World War saw thousands of men from all areas of Down march off to Europe from where many would not return. Between 1916 and 1922 Ireland was in the throes of sometimes violent conflict and the impact of that was felt in County Down too.

This exhibition looks at the history of the County from the Boer War to partition and shows how local and world events shaped our history and aspects of our present cultural traditions and community identity. Admission: Free This project has been funded by the European Union’s PEACE III Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body and delivered by the North Down, Ards and Down Councils’ Cluster.
