View the Giro d'Italia at Carrickfergus Castle

10 May
This year this prestigious cycle race begins in Northern Ireland before heading for Italy. Saturday’s route takes the race through Carrickfergus Borough, including two timed sprints past Carrickfergus Castle, which is steeped in history, so it’s not surprising that so many characters from the past have come out to witness a bit of new sporting history being made: see if you can spot Kings, Knights, minstrels, soldiers and legendary people from the first “Ulster Cycle” gathered around the Castle gates as the race passes by.

Carrickfergus Borough Council will also present a number of Italian and cycling-themed entertainments for all the family in Hight Street, Marine Gardens and Carrickfergus Museum.
