About

W5 is an award-winning science and discovery centre, located in the Odyssey complex at the gateway to Belfast’s Titanic Quarter.

Firing the spirit of discovery, with limitless fun for everyone, W5 has been completely reimagined following a major £5million investment.

Explore eight new zones, packed with over 250 interactive exhibits, that excite and inspire, with exhibits and experiences covering everything from climate change and nature to film and TV production, optical illusions, built engineering, medical science and much, much more.

Scale the heights on Climbit an immersive multistorey climbing experience or check out one of the daily science shows at a purpose-built Science Bar.

A new under 8s area invites visitors to step into a living storybook world, where family favourites are brought to life through immersive roleplay. Meanwhile, a refreshed ground floor includes The Lost Planet – a space and dinosaur themed maze of climbing frames and slides that takes soft play to a new dimension.

In addition to permanent exhibits, W5 runs a programme of seasonal exhibitions and events.

Dragons - This summer, an epic adventure awaits at W5 as we invite you to enter a world of ‘DRAGONS’. This thrilling new experience will bring to life these awe-inspiring creatures using large scale animatronics, puppetry, projections, immersive soundscape technology and fully themed environments.

W5 is accessible – for full details of their accessibility features, see W5@Odyssey | AccessAble

What age is W5 suitable for?

W5 is suitable for everyone aged 3 and up, with toddlers under 3 admitted free. Due to the interactive nature of the exhibits and activities, children of primary and seconday school age are likely to get the most out of a visit to W5, however children of all ages will enjoy the interactive exhibitions and events. Look out for adults-only, after-hours evenings of interactive fun when W5 runs its "W5 Late" events, allowing grown-ups the run of the place.

How long does it take to do W5?

We recommend allowing between 2 - 4 hours for your visit to W5, depending on your party size. Off peak times (early in the morning, late in the afternoon) tend to be slightly quieter, and you may be able to visit all floors quicker than when the discovery centre is busier.

Can you bring your own food to W5?

There are picnic style seating areas available for families and groups, and refillable water stations located throughout the building too. There is also a cafe on-site to purchase refreshments.
