What's on in our gardens

It’s not only bees busying themselves in our gardens over the next few months, the many fun and fascinating events planned for 2014 will also keep you buzzing all year.  From garden fairs to the Apple Blossom Festival; from award winning Roses to Northern ireland's top gardening event The Garden Show Ireland at Antrim Castle Gardens, there's a rich variety of exciting, educational and fun events for young and old. 

There's something for everyone taking place in Northern Ireland's gardens from May to September.

World Wetlands Day Walk, Belfast

ortmore Lough outside Aghalee, County Antrim is one of the best examples of wetlands which are managed for the benefit of birds and wildlife in the whole of Northern Ireland.

A Winter Solstice Sunset Walk, Florencecourt,

Experience the winter solstice at Cavan Burren with a guided sunset walk around this enigmatic landscape.

Christmas Time Special, Newtownards

Santa arrives upon his sleigh at 11 am on Saturday 29 November! Come and meet him and his helpful elves and feed Rudolf and his wives, Dancer and Prancer. A visit to Santa's house for a chat and a present is a must - you can also book for a late night visit on Thursday or Friday nights throughout December.

Shamrock Shenanigans, Moneymore, Magherafelt

With free entry for anyone who can prove they are called Patrick, this is sure to be a fine way to celebrate Saint Patrick's Day.  Discover the Shamrock Trail around the grounds and enjoy crafts, food and music.

RSPB Seabird Centre Rathlin Island, Rathlin Island

The RSPB Seabird Centre on Rathlin Island is home to one of the largest breeding seabird colonies in Europe including puffin, guillemot, razorbill and kittiwake.

Snowdrop Walks, Moneymore, Magherafelt

As winter melts away take a self-guided walk through Springhill's glorious display of snowdrops and enjoy a delicious tea and scone in the Servants' Hall Tea-Room.
